Description
A rigid collar in 18K yellow gold, built from carved stone plaques set alternately with braided and knotted links of gold. The plaques are fluted — cut with parallel grooves across the surface rather than faceted — so each one holds light in soft ridges instead of returning it in points. Aquamarine sits alongside tourmaline in pink, green and yellow, and the effect is a run of pale, unmatched colour rather than a graded sequence.
Carving stones this way, and setting them in gold worked as rope and knot, is a manner Bulgari made its own: hardstone treated as material for volume and colour rather than as a solitaire to be shown off. The gold is not a mere frame here — the braided links carry as much of the design as the stones do, and give the collar its rhythm.
The necklace is signed Bulgari, numbered, and carries Italian assay marks. It forms a suite with a matching pair of ear clips.
