The Rolex Day-Date 36 Ref. 128236-0006 is the pinnacle of the line the world knows as the “President”. The watch is crafted entirely in 950 platinum — the rarest metal in Rolex‘s palette: the 36 mm case, the fluted bezel and the legendary President bracelet with its concealed Crownclasp are all wrought in platinum. It is this platinum that lends the watch its characteristic cool, aristocratic weight.
At its heart is a dial of pink opal, a material of the greatest rarity for Rolex: the natural stone yields an inimitable play of hues, and no two dials are ever alike. It is set with 56 diamonds — hour markers in 18 ct gold with 32 diamonds, and the Roman VI and IX with 24 diamonds. The signature day aperture at 12 o’clock and date at 3 o’clock, magnified by the Cyclops lens, complete the unmistakable Day-Date profile.
The watch is driven by Rolex‘s in-house calibre 3255, with a 70-hour power reserve, Superlative Chronometer status and −2/+2 seconds-per-day precision. Water resistance is 100 metres.
