Description
Gérald Genta spent his career designing the watches other houses became famous for, and then built a Manufacture of his own to make the things no one had commissioned. This is one of them: a hexagonal case in textured yellow gold, flowing without interruption into an integrated bracelet, with no lugs and no visible transition between the two. The shape is angular but the surface is soft — the gold is worked to a fine matte grain that absorbs light rather than throwing it back.
At the centre of the dial is a panel pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, framed by a black lacquered ring and marked by applied diamond hour indices. The signature sits on the crystal rather than the dial, a detail Genta used on his own pieces. Inside is an automatic movement with a micro-rotor — the winding weight reduced to a small disc set into the movement itself rather than swinging above it, which is how a self-winding watch of this period could stay this slim. The movement is signed and running.
The case carries two signatures: Gerald Genta inside, and the jeweller M. Djubbarzadah on the outside, who sold the watch when it was new. It comes with its original fitted box and outer box, and the factory sticker is still on the case back. There is faint oxidation on the gold and the black lacquer of the chapter ring shows its age; the watch has not been serviced in our care and would benefit from attention before regular wear.
