Description
Piaget has always approached a watch the way a jeweller approaches a bracelet, and the Protocole line is where that instinct is clearest. Rather than a round case fixed to a strap, the Miss Protocole is built around a small asymmetric case whose entire surface is worked in a fine woven texture, so that the gold catches light the way fabric does. The case back screws down flush, leaving the silhouette uninterrupted — the watch reads as a piece of jewellery first and tells the time second.
The dial is mother-of-pearl, signed, with the stylised Arabic numerals that give the model its character: only a few figures, placed with deliberate asymmetry, floating on a surface that shifts between cream, rose and pale grey as the wrist moves. No two mother-of-pearl dials are alike, and this one has kept its lustre completely. The quartz movement is signed by the Maison and running.
This example comes on its 18K yellow gold link bracelet with integrated clasp — the version that keeps the watch entirely in gold, rather than the interchangeable straps offered alongside it. It has been very lightly worn: the case shows only the faintest marks under close inspection, and the original factory protective film is still in place on the case back.
