Description
Created around 1970 to commission for Vacheron Constantin – the oldest jewellery house in Geneva – and executed in the workshop of Parisian master Cristofol, this bracelet represents the finest tradition of mid-century French and Swiss jewellery. The wide articulated band in 18-carat yellow gold is composed of elongated chiselled links styled as woodland shoots or tree bark. Along the edges, faceted sapphires totalling approximately three carats provide a cool blue counterpoint to the warm textured gold ground.
The bracelet is monogrammed and bears the maker’s mark of Cristofol, confirming its documented authorship and high level of execution – a combination characteristic of the great workshop commissions of the Place Vendôme era.
At 19.2 cm × 2 cm and 120.30 g, it wears as a work of minor sculpture: powerful, organic, and uncompromisingly beautiful.
