Sotheby’s “Important Watches” auction begins on June 5, 2024.
We would like to take a closer look at a few of the lots that will be on display in New York.
So far, 11 o’clock has been presented.
Among them: Rolex, Patek Philippe and Cartier; watches worn by Sylvester Stallone
According to the catalogue note,
The reference 5711 stays true to the original design of the watch and remains an elegant and sporting icon in the cannon of modern Patek Philippe. The stainless steel 5711 was discontinued in spectacular fashion in 2021, and as such has remained sought after by collectors. The present watch comes from the personal collection of Sylvester Stallone who has worn and enjoyed the watch since purchasing it new in 2019.

Encased in a 42 mm yellow gold case accented with a ceramic Clous de Paris bezel, the watch exudes a blend of athleticism and refinement. The alternating yellow gold and rubber bracelet enhances its dynamic appeal.We are pleased to offer this timepiece, directly owned and consigned by Sylvester Stallone, bearing his name proudly engraved on the case back.
With the introduction of the reference 22823, which is represented by the current lot, Rolex celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Day-Date in 2016. Complete with a President bracelet, a fluted bezel, and applied Roman numerals, this exquisite pink gold watch embodies all the hallmarks of a Rolex. The distinctive dark green face of this watch is what makes it unique from others.
Over the course of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the Day-Date has been worn on the wrists of many significant individuals. Due to its association with Lyndon B. Johnson wearing a Day-Date, the watchβoften referred to as “The President”βhas come to represent achievement and success.
Given his own enormous success in the entertainment business, it becomes sense that Sylvester Stallone is the one directly consigning this specific watch.
This watch, which has the nickname “Sly” etched on the case back, is a symbol of Stallone’s commitment to excellence and hard work, in addition to being a beautiful example of luxury.
